Why this matters:
Fuel burned in ships and aircraft you own or operationally control is Scope 1 — distinct from business travel or chartered transport, which is Scope 3. For aviation fuels, the non-CO₂ high-altitude warming effect is shown as a radiative-forcing memo (×1.9); the GHG Protocol keeps it out of the Scope 1 total. Well-to-tank (fuel supply) emissions are a separate Scope 3, Category 3 line.
